OVERVIEW
To Become a Crane is an independent Japanese documentary that follows a young girl’s journey as she prepares to debut as a geiko, offering a rare glimpse into modern geiko culture.
The film was screened at the independent cinema, with the poster used across event promotions and in-venue displays.
Crowd Funding
A striking and easily recognisable main visual of a geiko was chosen, as it would be seen by many who knew nothing about the film. To ensure clarity and impact, the title, an icon, and a brief description of the film were included. As a result, the production funding achieved 104% of its goal, raising approximately £16,900 for production.
